How do I calculate the dividends on a cash flow statement problem?

Can you answer Jay C's question about cash flow?:

In the following cash flow statement problem (URL below), the dividends are given to me.

However, I now have a problem that simply says "dividends were declared and paid during the year." How would I go about calculating the dividends from the information given?
