It is indeed hard to manage receivables especially when your debtors make slow payments, or sometimes, non-payment at all. In order to improve the collection of your receivables and avoid crippling your business, here are some ways that can help you. 1. A written contract will help you improve your receivables. Once you and your debtor signed it, it means that he agrees on the term of payments specified in the contract. 2. Create clear credit policy to be followed by your debtors. 3. Before offering credit to anybody, check their credit history. You can use credit agencies and bank references to know if they have a good credit rating. 4. Establish credit limits and make it as a rule that any debtor should stick to it. 5. Impose penalties on overdue accounts.
